Invisalign Teen – What is it?

What is it?

Just as original Invisalign does, Invisalign Teen aligns your teen’s teeth through a series of custom made aligners. The aligners resemble a retainer. They are clear, lightweight and barely noticeable.  As the teeth become aligned, the teen progresses through the series of aligning trays every few weeks. No more metal braces, rubber bands, or broken brackets to deal with.  The pain associated with tightening traditional metal braces is also absent with Invisalign Teen.  The aligner trays can be removed when the teen brushes his or her teeth, so the risk for future tooth decay is greatly reduced. This is one on the greatest benefits to the Invisalign system that traditional metal braces cannot claim. Over 1 Million patients have already used Invisalign Teen to get a beautiful smile.

What it treats:

Invisalign Teen treats a broad range of dental and orthodontic conditions which, in the past, were usually only treated with traditional braces. These include crowded teeth, crossbite, overbite, underbite, and widely spaced teeth.  Until now, your teen would not have been able to treat these conditions with Invisalign. Due to the softness of the teen’s jaw, Invisalign was initially not an option for teens in the past. The development of Invisalign Teen has enabled millions of teens to achieve the same benefits of Invisalign safely and with FDA approval.

Blue Dot Wear Indicator tells the story:

Concerned that your teen will be tempted not to wear the aligner trays? Well don’t be! Invisalign Teen has anticipated and resolved that concern. Each tray comes complete with a Blue Dot Wear Indicator, which provides and approximate gauge of wear. The dot gradually fades after a two week period if the aligners are worn as prescribed. The aligners need to be worn between 20 to 22 hours per day. They can be taken out when eating, during full contact sports, and when the teen brushes his or her teeth, but must be worn during other times. The Blue Dot Wear Indicator is a clear cut method to determine if your teen is in compliance with the treatment. No need to second guess or argue about it!
